Look at this gorgeous set of rare Grape Garnets. Grape Garnets are a very rare variety of Rhodolite that contains trace elements of Iron and Magnesium that give it its rich purple color. When you see Grape Garnet sitting next to a Purple Sapphire though, you might be hard pressed to tell the difference, because the Grape Garnet has a tremendous brilliance due to its high refractive index. That’s just one of the reasons gemologists and gem collectors prize this unusual gem. These fine pieces are actually from a fairly new mine located in Mozambique. It was discovered in 2015 and to date there is still very little production. Fair East Wind acquired the rough, from this location, and actually did all of the gem faceting in-house. This way we are able to guarantee the finest quality, precision cutting of each gem.
